simple step # 5

fill your tank

This concept is not only simple, but also easy to understand. When the fuel gauge on your car starts to get dangerously close to the “E” it’s time for a fill up. There is really no excuse for running out of fuel because we are given ample warning, right? We always know where we stand when it comes to our fuel level. If we find ourselves stranded on the side of the road with an empty tank, it is likely because we have completely ignored the warning.

Are you getting dangerously close to empty? Maybe you’re running on fumes. Or perhaps you’ve surpassed that warning to the point of total depletion. It’s time to fill your tank! I’m not talking about filling it with a nap or a few more hours of sleep, although that may be beneficial. I’m talking about filling your tank with the special brand of fuel your body needs. You’ll find that special brand of fuel in those things that bring you enjoyment, peace, and a sense of fulfillment. You know, those thing we say we don’t have time for. Find the time and fill your tank. You can’t sustain on empty.

“God created you to live your life with your energy reserves filled to the top. That’s how He created all of us to live.” – Bill Hybels

Here’s your challenge this week:
Take some time to remember the things that bring you joy, peace and fulfillment. Pick a day and schedule one of those simple pleasures in with permanent ink.

Say no to empty. A life lived on empty will result in an empty life.¬†Find that fuel. Make that time. Live your life on full….And that, my friend, will simplify your life.
